STEM Partnership Summary
Through solid research and program support, Raytheon has developed partnerships with education-based research organizations, sports teams (such as the New England Patriots), and community-based institutions such as the Museum of Science to promote the development of an educated citizenry. Raytheon also provides mentors for students through their Corporate Campus Academic Mentor program. Student Learning and Research in Mathematics: Raytheon has developed a comprehensive and far-reaching program called MathMovesU, which provides middle school students with hands-on activities and lesson plans to support learning around STEM topics. This information is shared through the www.mathmovesu.com Web site.
Community-Based STEM: The Hall at Patriot Place offers an exhibit called “In the Numbers” where students can win a game by answering mathematics and science questions. The program has three levels: elementary, middle, and high school, and is one component of the larger MathMovesU initiative. For more information about the exhibit contact education coordinator Peg Myers at (508) 549-0555.
Scholarships: Raytheon offers scholarships for students to attend summer programs in STEM areas as well as for college tuition. They offer cash awards to teachers and volunteers who advance mathematics learning, and to schools to promote instruction in STEM areas.
