STEM Partnership Summary
Web-based Education: Through Verizon Foundation, Verizon has established an extensive web-based education resource called Thinkfinity.org. The Verizon Foundation has developed a partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and Lesley University to train Massachusetts public school teachers to use Thinkfinity.org in the classroom. The Massachusetts Thinkfinity website provides teachers with a link to Thinkfinity’s standards based resources for a wide range of subjects.
Grants: Verizon Foundation has offered grants to Massachusetts school districts in the last two years. This past year, grants supported teacher training in the use of Verizon Thinkfinity's free educational resources to help students to learn about and become engaged in all subject areas, including the STEM fields. For more information on future grant opportunities, go to http://www.verizon.com/ma.
Teacher Training: The Massachusetts Thinkfinity site offers a list of certified trainers; some are available to run workshops to train Massachusetts public school teachers using Thinkfinity instructional materials.
Resources: The teacher resources located on the national Verizon Thinkfinity website are available to all educators, afterschool practitioners, parents and students. Please note that some of these materials are still in development.
Internships: Separate from the Verizon Foundation and Thinkfinity.org, Verizon Business offers a 12-week summer college internship program. To apply: (www22.verizon.com/jobs/campus/internships/internships.htm). For career information: http://www.vzwcareers.com/college/index.html
